Contact A tax (from the Latin taxo; "rate") is a financial charge or other levy imposed upon a taxpayer (an individual or legal entity) by a state or the functional equivalent of a state such that failure to pay, or evasion of or resistance to collection, is punishable by law. Taxes are also imposed by many administrative divisions. Taxes consist of direct (e.g. Income Tax) or indirect taxes (e.g. Sales Tax) and may be paid in money or adjustable in final tax liability. In Pakistan; more than 70 unique taxes administered by at least 37 agencies of the Government of Pakistan. Commonly Income Tax (under Income Tax Ordinance 2001 & Income Tax Rules 2002) & Sales Tax (under Sales Tax Act 1990 & Sales Tax Rules 2006) Returns are required to be filed annually and monthly respectively.
